What is Micro suction?
Micro suction is a procedure which uses gentle suction to remove excessive or troublesome cerumen (earwax) from the ear. Ear wax micro suction is performed with the aid of an operating microscope and a finely calibrated suction device. It is undertaken without the introduction of any materials or liquids to the ear canal. Most ear wax removal is presently carried out through ear irrigation, which involves injecting a soft jet of water into the ear to remove the wax. The old ear syringing method precedes ear irrigation and is very rarely performed any longer because of safety issues. Ear irrigation is not always effective and sometimes is described as uncomfortable or unpleasant by patients.

Pre- Treatment With Earol
Usually micro suction does not need pre-treatment with drops, most people have their wax removed in one session without it. However,if you wish to use drops, treatment of the ear or ears with two days of Earol (clinically treated olive oil) is the best preparation. During the appointment, we will examine your ear using our microscope identifying any issues. Then using a fine low pressure suction device, we will safely remove the earwax blockage from the ear canal.
